Galerie Portraits ships to collectors worldwide. Every work is handled with museum-standard care from our Valencia studio to your door. Below you will find all details on packaging, shipping times, costs and insurance.
All works are packaged to museum conservation standards. The specific packaging method depends on the format of the work:
Works up to 100×70 cm are shipped flat between rigid acid-free boards inside a custom-cut outer carton, with corner protection and moisture barrier. A “Do Not Bend” label is applied. Where specified in the artwork details and included with the acquisition, selected works may also be presented in a bespoke archival presentation box accompanied by their signed certificate of authenticity.
Works over 100×70 cm are carefully rolled face-out around an acid-free tube, wrapped in glassine, placed in a protective sleeve and shipped in a reinforced cylindrical tube.
Stretched canvases are wrapped in protective film and packed in a bespoke wooden crate with foam padding. Very large formats are rolled from the back on acid-free tubes.
These are always shipped flat or as stretched canvases in custom wooden crates. Never rolled. A desiccant is included for humidity control during transit.
Delivery times indicated below are estimates calculated from the date of dispatch. For original works and large-format pieces, shipment takes place once the artwork has been signed and passed final quality control (typically within 2–5 working days after order confirmation). For commissioned works, production and delivery timelines may vary depending on the specifications and schedule previously agreed with the gallery and/or the artist.
Note: These times may be extended during holiday periods, for oversized works, or due to customs delays outside the EU. We will keep you informed at every step.
Shipping costs are calculated according to destination, dimensions, packaging requirements, insurance, and the nature of each artwork. Selected limited edition prints benefit from complimentary shipping on orders over €500 within mainland Spain and over €1,500 for international destinations. Original works, framed pieces, and large-format artworks require a bespoke shipping quotation, which is communicated to the collector prior to completion of the acquisition.
Every shipment is fully insured for its declared commercial value from the moment it leaves our studio until it is signed for at delivery. In the unlikely event of damage or loss in transit, we will manage the insurance claim on your behalf and ensure full replacement or compensation.
For certain destinations, applicable taxes may be included where required by local regulations. For international deliveries, import duties, customs fees, local taxes, or other charges imposed by the destination country may apply and remain the responsibility of the collector.
Galerie Portraits prepares all customs and shipping documentation in accordance with the declared commercial value of each artwork and applicable international shipping regulations.
Once the work has been dispatched, a tracking number will be sent to the email address provided during the acquisition process. The shipment may then be followed through the carrier’s website. An acquisition is considered delivered once it has been handed to the collector, delivered to the address provided during the order process, or deposited in accordance with the policies of the appointed carrier or collection service.
Collectors are kindly advised to inspect the external condition of the packaging upon receipt and to retain all original packaging materials should any issue be identified during unpacking.
In the unlikely event that a work arrives damaged or with visible transport-related issues, the collector should contact Galerie Portraits as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 48 hours of receipt, including photographic documentation of the packaging, the artwork, and the observed damage.
Where appropriate, Galerie Portraits will coordinate the claim process with the carrier and provide a suitable resolution, which may include restoration, replacement, refund, or another appropriate solution depending on the nature of the work.
Professional installation is available on request for collectors in Spain. For international collectors, Galerie Portraits may provide installation guidelines and, where possible, recommend trusted local professionals. Please contact us at the time of acquisition if this service is required.
Estimated delivery times are indicative only. Galerie Portraits shall not be held responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including transport disruptions, customs procedures, adverse weather conditions, logistical incidents, or periods of exceptional demand.
If a shipment cannot be completed due to incorrect delivery information, repeated absence, or failure to collect the package within the carrier’s designated timeframe, additional storage, return, or reshipping charges may apply.
