At Galerie Portraits, a commission is the most intimate act of collecting. Whether you are seeking a portrait of deep psychological intensity, an abstract painting that defines a space, or a large-scale work for a corporate or institutional setting, the process begins with a conversation and culminates in something irreplaceable.
The process is direct, discreet and carefully guided: defining the vision, preparing the artistic proposal, creating the work and delivering the final piece with its certificate of authenticity.

The commission process
From the first conversation
to the final delivery
We believe the process of commissioning an artwork should be as considered as the artwork itself. Each stage is handled with complete transparency, and your involvement is welcome throughout. No surprises — only discovery.

Initial consultation
A private conversation with the artist — in Valencia or by video call — to understand your vision, the intended space and what the work should convey. There is no commitment at this stage.

Proposal and quotation
The artist prepares a written proposal including the conceptual direction, technique, dimensions, timeline and detailed price. You review it, and we refine it together until it is exactly as it should be.
Within 5–7 working days

Creation
The work begins once the agreement has been accepted and the deposit received. You will receive updates according to the agreed timeline, with images of the work in progress and the possibility to provide comments before completion.
6–20 weeks depending on complexity

Approval and finishing
A final high-resolution preview is shared for your approval. Once confirmed, the work is signed by the artist, finished and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.

Final payment and delivery
The remaining balance is paid before delivery. Museum-grade packing and fully insured shipping are arranged to any destination worldwide. Specialist installation is available upon request.
