Grace, a Colombian woman, was forced to flee her native country to escape the father of her two younger children. For eight harrowing years, she endured a relationship with a man involved with the guerrilla. Initially, he seemed like a caring individual, but over time, his true nature emerged. He began to control her every move, even going as far as shooting her. Grace experienced severe physical and psychological suffering, often in front of her children.
In Colombia, Grace tried to escape by moving from city to city, but she was always found and brutally assaulted. Additionally, one of her children suffered abuse from a family member, adding to her anguish.
Determined to save her life and protect her children, Grace fled to Spain. Despite facing numerous challenges, including irregular migration status and encountering a mafia to secure an appointment to regularize her situation, she felt a sense of happiness and safety simply by being away from the father of her children.
